WATER-CUTTING
Ceramic tiles are present in our surroundings almost everywhere. We see them at work and at home. We put them on walls and floors in our kitchens, bathrooms and terraces. We choose them because of their high resistance, ease of cleaning and high availability of patterns. It is becoming more and more popular to decorate interiors with tiles cut in a non-standard way. Thanks to new technologies of cutting and processing materials, we are able to obtain virtually any shape. When arranging the space, it is worth considering various cutting methods so that the final effect will bring even the greatest aesthetes to their knees.
PLATE UNEVEN PLATE
When deciding to lay the tiles, remember that they differ in terms of hardness. Wall tiles are the easiest to work with. All kinds of clinkers and gres tiles (both glazed and unglazed) are characterised by greater hardness. The harder the material, the more precise cutting tools are needed. The size of the tile itself also plays a significant role here. The larger size of the ceramic plate, the bigger size of the device for cutting is.
A TOOL TAILORED TO YOUR NEEDS
For the proper processing of ceramic tiles, you need a really wide range of tools and knowledge. The equipment of a professional specialist includes both mundane tools such as a glass knife or a bow saw as well as more specialised ones – angle grinders with diamond discs or tile cutters, a so-called ‘guillotine’. It should also be remembered that the visibility of the cut also largely depends on the pattern of the tile itself. The more delicate the pattern, the less visible the cut location is. Moreover, the more professional the method, the less risk of chipping the tile is.
THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAIL
The stairs begin when we dream of cutting a concrete, though very irregular shape, in the slab – especially when we want to cut this shape in a material with a high degree of hardness. It is then worth using the waterjet method. With a concentrated stream of water with garnet, you can quickly and efficiently process ceramic tiles as well as stone, marble, porcelain or terracotta tiles. In addition to cutting the material to the desired size and shape, you can also cut appropriate holes in the plate (e.g. for electrical sockets, pipes or batteries). Waterjet technology ensures precise cutting with an accuracy of one tenth of a millimetre.
